The problem begins when we start to put things off every day. This situation has an official name and is called procrastination. In order not to drown in the sea of stored up things we have to do, we all need to fight this tendency. This is why we should all observe Fight Procrastination Day.

Fight Procrastination Day is observed annually on September 6, which does not mean, that this is the only day of the year that we should push back on procrastination. Although it may not seem to be a serious problem, in fact procrastination is like a thief – it takes away our energy, ability to achieve what we want, but also time. If you thought that procrastinating helps you save your time, you were completely wrong! If you do what has to be done on time, you can rest with free mind later. But if you keep putting things off, the next day you do not want to do any of them, because they start to overwhelm you. Result? Procrastination wins and you have even less time to do anything effectively.

What we all need to understand to fight procrastination is that its main reason is that we do not enjoy what needs to be done. Of course, there are hundreds of things we would rather not do in our life, like cleaning, exercising or studying. But the good news is: there are many techniques to battle procrastination! The best way to do that might be trying to change our approach. When you have a task that needs to be done, you need to say: DO IT NOW! Of course, it may be difficult at the beginning. But as soon as you realize that the most difficult is the very first step, you will find the energy and motivation to begin immediately. Another good technique is to get rid of everything that might be distracting us while doing the task. And what keeps distracting us most often? The social media! There are, however, some special apps that can block our access to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram for a few hours. This can be extremely helpful in fighting procrastination. September 6 might be the best opportunity to do that for the first time.
